How Much Does a Life Coach Cost? Prices and Services Explained

If you’re thinking about working with a life coach, it’s natural to wonder about the cost. You may already be dealing with a difficult change, feeling unsettled, or trying to decide what to do next. The last thing you need is uncertainty about what you’ll pay.
This guide explains what life coaching can include, what affects the price, and what to ask before booking. I’ll also share my current session fee so you can decide whether it feels right for you.
What does life coaching usually cost?
There isn’t one standard price. Fees vary depending on the coach’s experience, location, qualifications, session length, and the type of support offered. Some coaches charge per session; others offer packages or longer programmes.
My current fee for a one-to-one coaching session online or in-person at Ravda, Bulgaria, is €95 per session (approx. 90 minutes). I also offer a free discovery call lasting up to 45 minutes. It gives us time to talk about what’s bringing you to coaching, explore whether it may be suitable, and see whether we feel comfortable working together.
Please check the current fees and terms on my session fees page before booking.
What do you pay for in a coaching session?
A coaching session is dedicated time to focus on what is happening in your life. We can explore your concerns, identify what matters most to you, and consider practical next steps. The conversation is shaped around your situation rather than following a one-size-fits-all plan.
People often seek coaching when they are:
- going through a major life change, such as retirement, relocation, or separation
- feeling lonely, unsettled, or unsure of their direction
- adjusting to life abroad or considering a return home
- looking for space to think through a personal decision
- hoping to understand their priorities and decide what to do next
Coaching is not psychotherapy or medical treatment. If your situation calls for a different kind of support, it is important to speak with an appropriately qualified health professional.
Is a free discovery call worth having?
A first conversation can help you decide whether coaching feels like the right next step. During my discovery call, which lasts up to 45 minutes, we explore the issue you’re facing and whether coaching may be appropriate.
It is also a chance for both of us to decide whether working together feels right. Mutual trust, empathy, and compassion matter. If those foundations aren’t there, coaching is unlikely to be helpful.
The call is not a promise to continue, and you don’t have to make a decision on the spot.
Should you choose a single session or a coaching package?
A single session may be a good place to begin if you have one particular question or want to find out what coaching is like. Some people prefer a series of sessions when they want continuing support through a longer period of change.
Before choosing a package, ask:
- How many sessions are included?
- How long is each session?
- What is the total cost?
- Is there an expiry date or cancellation policy?
- Can you decide after the first session whether to continue?
Make sure you understand the price and terms before committing. You should feel free to ask questions.
What should you consider besides the price?
The lowest fee is not necessarily the best fit—and a higher fee does not automatically mean better coaching. Consider whether the coach explains their approach clearly, respects your pace, and is honest about what coaching can and cannot offer.
For expats, it may also matter that you can speak in a language that feels comfortable. I offer coaching in English and German, online across Europe. In-person appointments may be available at my practice in Ravda, Bulgaria.
Is life coaching worth the cost?
That depends on what you’re looking for and whether the support is right for you. Coaching can give you dedicated time to reflect, understand your options, and consider a next step. It cannot guarantee a particular outcome, and it is not the right form of help for every situation.
A useful first step is to ask yourself: What would I like to be clearer about by the end of a conversation? You can bring that question to a discovery call and see whether the conversation feels useful.
A clear first step
If you’re considering coaching, you can begin with a free discovery call of up to 45 minutes. We’ll talk about what’s going on, whether coaching may suit your needs, and whether we feel comfortable working together.
